Frodo... in the books he was an instant favorite for me... small, seemingly obsolete, but with a strong will... the ultimate hero of the story! I think Eowyn gets a side vote from me too... sort of how I'd envision myself... still a woman, but not hesitating to put up a fight, and not the type to be kept locked up very easily

Hmmm, shame you didnt put Beregond on the list, the first time I've read the books he turned out to be one of my favorites at once. Considering the more popular charcters I'm swaying between Boromir and Faramir, but now the choice fell on Boromir.... he represents the norml man of today with his weaknesses and flaws but also his honor and glory. Perhaps one of the least stereotyped characters in my eyes.

I think Theoden was my favorite. He fell under Saruman's power, yes, but he was strong, and not so prideful that he would not go to help the White City in its time of need. Go Theoden! I fashioned a piece of wood to look like his sword, Herugrim. I think Eowyn is my favorite woman character. Wish I could find a girl like her to marry. lol.

lol Elros, I think that is why a lot of us tend to be drawn to the fantasy world, for in that way, what we envision can become a reality in that sense, formed by our thoughts. Many times have we all, I am sure, wished that Middle Earth truly did, or does, exist, and yes, I too search for a piece of it in my own life
Oiy, I am rambling! *chuckles* That's a rare thing for me considering I'm dead tired and worn out... a good choice, by the way!
Take care, Lady Dhodrimme Rualanna

Legolas. In the books he was fantastic. Beregond was good too.

Haha, thanks, milady Dhodrimme. You expressed it extremely well. So, everyone keeps mentioning Beregond; who is he?

I must say I can't choose between Sam and Èowyn. Both are my favorites for different reasons.
I think some characters mean more to us because we find something in them we have in ourselves. Or then again, they what we wish to be. Or perhaps they are only interesting people.
Sam. Loyal, simple, and so brave. Brave is not the one who's not afraid, but the one who dares even when he is afraid. And his love to Mr. Frodo. One of the reasons why I love Sam is my history. When I first read LotR I was heavily depressed. The person who made me want to live became my Frodo. In that friendship I was Sam.
Èowyn represents the stronger side of me. Strong at will, stubborn and brave but also despaired and broken inside. A lone fighter longing for freedom. Yes, I see myself in her.
I didn't vote because I couldn't make up my mind. They are both my favorites.
