Hey, I was wondering, how many horses were used in the LotR films, like in the battle of Pelinor Fields, when the Rohirrim charge the Orcs (Is that actually part of the battle of Pelinor?) did they use real horses or did they use CGI horses.
Random: Shadowfax was played by at least two different horses.

I think it was mostly CGI horses, since I heard some 25 horses, maybe, were used... or 45... something like that. I will have to glance around and see if I can find out.

Wow. Lot of CGI stuff. Wonder what animation program they used. I just downloaded Blender 3D myself.

Well in ROTK they used lots of horses for the rider of rohan charge, I think it was about 100.

they actually tell you in the Extended DVD's of RotK...I think it's in the Horse Lords of Middle Earth or something...I know all the horses that got shot and whatever were CGI but most of them were real
